Born and raised in West Virginia, I pursued a BFA from West Virginia
University but struggled to find my creative voice after graduation.
Human connection is extremely important to me, so I decided to pursue an
advanced degree in therapy, hoping to incorporate some artistic
elements into my practice. Through that process and now working at a
nonprofit as a licensed counselor, my thousands of hours of conversation
have helped me see some threads of familiarity between myself and those
I work with. I often tell my clients I don’t want to assume anything
because they are the best authority on themselves: "you teach me who you
are".
I see my art as a form of self-portrait, allowing you into pieces of my life: my fears, desires, and wounds. This is both vulnerable, which leads to more connection, but also connecting in itself because I hope some of my pieces can be a mirror for others or a familiar space to feel heard and understood.
My original pieces lean toward surreal, taking inspiration from artists such as Dorothea Tanning and Leonora Carrington. I often structure my work around themes referencing religion and gender, speaking to my personal feelings surrounding what I have experienced.
Other works I have done include many commissions over the years, a few murals, local business projects/signage and showing art in multiple spaces. I now split my time between therapy and art, working toward authenticity and vulnerability in both.
Thank you for reading, I hope we can connect!
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
